I thought it was time to do a 3-part email series deep diving into the crypto on everyone’s lips right now – PulseChain!
If you didn’t sacrifice for PulseChain, or you have no idea what I’m talking about right now, don’t worry because this is your beginner’s overview. Over the next 3 emails I’ll be looking at what PulseChain is, why everyone’s excited, and why investors all over the world are so bullish on it.
Let’s jump in!
What Is PulseChain?
PulseChain is a new blockchain network created by Richard Heart, the founder of a cryptocurrency called HEX.
PulseChain is a Layer 1 blockchain, which basically means infrastructure for the crypto ecosystem. Think of Layer 1’s as the railway tracks and crypto projects/coins are the trains that operate on top of it.
Ethereum is currently the most popular Layer 1 blockchain, with thousands of projects built on top of it. But the thing about Ethereum is, it’s frustratingly slow and can be very expensive to transact on. Every time you make any transaction on Ethereum, even if it’s just sending crypto from an exchange to your own wallet, you pay a gas fee. And when the network is heavily congested, those gas fees can get pretty hefty, sometimes hundreds of dollars at a time. Not only does this make it inaccessible for many investors, but it also makes it unviable for many Decentralised Finance (DeFi) projects.
Which is where PulseChain comes in.
Richard Heart and his team have copied the code of Ethereum and made their own updates to improve it as they see fit. This process is called ‘forking’ and is a common activity in cryptocurrency. It means PulseChain will have all of the quality code that underpins Ethereum, whilst being faster and cheaper to transact on.
And when I say cheaper, I’m talking fractions of a cent per transaction!
Are you beginning to see why we’re so excited?
However, that’s just the start of the PulseChain goodness, because when this network launches, it will bring with it the largest Airdrop in the history of crypto.
The PulseChain Airdrop
The PulseChain launch and accompanying Airdrop is one of the most anticipated events in crypto history and applies to all ERC-20 coins (an ERC-20 is a token that works on the Ethereum network).
Basically, if you hold any ERC-20’s on the Ethereum Chain, you’ll receive a free copy of those same coins on PulseChain (where they are referred to as PRC-20). All you need to do to receive them is hold the coins in a wallet you control, where you own the private keys. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. You won’t receive the Airdrop if you hold your ERC-20’s on an exchange (which is never a great idea anyway). They must be in a wallet that you control (Trezor, Ledger, Exodus, MetaMask etc).
So if you hold, say, 625 Enjin (ENJ) on Ethereum, you’ll automatically have another 625 ENJ on the PulseChain network once it goes live. You are effectively doubling the amount of tokens you now hold.
As you can see, the ENJ on PulseChain won’t have the same value as your ENJ on Ethereum. All ERC-20 coins on PulseChain will start at $0 and take time to establish themselves over the following days, weeks or months. The price will come down to social consensus and what people value (essentially supply and demand).
So, if you haven’t already, your action item today, is to get all your ERC-20s into your own wallet, pronto!
Should You Stock Up On ERC-20’s Now?
So does this mean you should go out and buy a whole lot of ERC-20 coins now just so you can get the free copies?
Not necessarily.
Remember, these coins will start at $0 and their price will be driven by social consensus. As with all things crypto, you need to be prepared for volatility! The Airdrop does provide a great opportunity to own the top ERC20 coins again, for sure, but no one knows what their price will be relative to their Ethereum counterparts. If you already hold ERC-20’s as part of your investment plan – wonderful! You can consider the coins a bonus. If you want to buy some of the top ERC-20’s now, that’s great too. Just know that there are no guarantees on price.
So as you can see, PulseChain is HUGE and will be an absolute gamechanger for the crypto space. Those who sacrificed have waited almost 2 years for this blockchain to go live, and we are getting INCREDIBLY close!
In my next email I’ll be looking at the question everyone is speculating on.
Just how high can PulseChain go?
Stay tuned!
